Best Wet Food for Senior Cats with Kidney Disease?

The Best wet food for senior cats with kidney disease is crucial in managing their condition and improving their quality of life.

Here are some factors to consider when selecting a kidney-friendly wet food for your senior feline friend:

Low Phosphorus: Excess phosphorus can worsen kidney function. Look for food formulated specifically for kidney health, which will have restricted phosphorus content.

Moderate Protein: While protein is essential, too much can strain the kidneys. Choose a food with moderate protein levels, ideally from high-quality sources like fish or poultry.

Increased Moisture: Dehydration is a common concern for cats with kidney disease. Opt for wet food with high moisture content to encourage hydration.

Palatability: Sick cats may lose their appetite. Choose a palatable food with a strong odor and texture to entice your cat to eat.

  1. I would love to get my cats off the Prescription kidney food. I do all wet kd. I had them on primal raw frozen but vet said the protein is too high. Would it be ok to go back to the frozen raw primal? They have rabbit, chicken/salmon , pork. Beef but you say that’s hard to digest.
Note all their last labs show kidneys are normal.
    Thanks
